Kakanien
There’s nothing strange about liking The man without qualities by Musil so much that I name my journal after it, and also gets fascinated with fin de siecle Austria, right? The country there they dreamed about: … alten Schloßalleen, herbstlichen Gärten, gläsernen Weihern, Edelsteinen, Haschisch, Krankheit, Dämonen, aber auch von Prärien …. Yeah that’s from the book, and sorry for the language, I have spent many minutes with google trying to find an English translation. The problem is that I’m afraid to make the impression I’m trying to make myself look special by reading that kind of literature. That was a circumstantially (if I used that word right?) way of wondering what kind of image I get from reading it – but that I have a fear of being judged on the books I read, probably says more about me then anything else.
